This project was inspired by my ‘Mind the Gap’ project because that is where I learned the value of a thorough creative process prior to painting. I directed a photoshoot with my subject where the photos were taken through a piece of glass she pressed her hands against. I pictured a dream-like scenario where the subject and the viewer are seemingly separated by glass. By design, this would just be an illusion with paint on canvas.

The state of mind I was in during the making of this work was one of anxiety. Amidst the many pressures I was feeling at the time, I was struggling with many irrational thoughts and worries. I felt closed in on by the world and desired to express the feeling visually. This ended up being one of my most successful pieces that I would end up displaying in my senior BFA exhibit.
