Mind the Gap Project

The ‘Mind the Gap’ project was one given to us as sophomores in our Art & Design degree. For this project we needed to think about source imagery and combining multiple reference photos. We each had to each build a diorama, photograph it, and use that image as source material for our painting. I took an old painting of mine, ripped up some paper, and created a composition out of those materials. I painted in some photos I’ve taken of the ocean and sky to break up the space and emphasize a “gap” in source imagery. This work was successful and introduced me to a new process and way of creatively thinking.
